Galician organic cider. Lagar de Ribela
We are a family business dedicated to produce Galician organic apple cider, made with local varieties. This is a sustainable project located in Ribela, in the township of A Estrada, Pontevedra, fully immersed in a rural environment.
Cider has been produced in Galicia since the Iron Age. This tradition has only been mantained in some scattered places. In the region of A Estrada, across valleys and along the banks of rivers Ulla, Umia and Liñares, indigenous apple species have remained to this day.
We use local and ancient varieties of apples from our own organic crops. Rabiosa varieties like the Raida, Marafouza, Freixerana or Pimienta are part of an inheritance of almost four hundred different Galician varieties.
